Samson Ademola is a strategic programme leader with over a decade of experience managing $6M+ donor-funded initiatives across governance, gender, media, health, education and civic space. With a background in journalism, he brings investigative insight to programme leadership, enabling stronger accountability systems, communication strategies and governance reforms. He has overseen grantmaking to 25+ partner organisations and coordinated cross-border coalitions in Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa.
At the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), Samson led portfolios supported by the MacArthur Foundation, Gates Foundation, OSIWA, UNESCO, Luminate, and the U.S. Consulate. He implemented national projects across Nigeria and coordinated an 18-organisation multi-country media cohort, delivering joint investigations, international convenings and sustainability initiatives that positioned partners for long-term resilience.
Samson is recognised for translating strategy into execution, building high-performing teams and embedding Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) systems that improve efficiency, accountability and sustainable impact. Recognising the convergence between impact-driven development work and Africa’s growing startup ecosystem, Samson now supports early-stage companies and impact investors with the same performance tracking and outcome verification expertise he applied to donor-funded portfolios. He helps startups build investor-ready M&E systems and supports impact funds with portfolio monitoring, bridging the gap between development sector rigour and startup speed.
